Man Recounts Kind Experiences With Lost Wallet & Taxi Driver Shows a Different Side of S’pore

When it comes to being warm and kindhearted, Singaporeans don’t really rank at the top.

Ask any Singaporean on the streets and their first words probably be kiasu, kiasi, cold, self-entitled and more.

But this Christmas, one man saw a different side of Singaporeans. Twice, in fact.

Here’s what happened.

Man Loses Wallet & Couldn’t Pay For Taxi Ride

On 21 December 2018, Facebook user Alex Wilson wrote about his experience with kind Singaporeans in a Facebook post.

He realised that he had lost his wallet after taking a taxi home.

Now, most drivers would probably lose their temper, wondering why a passenger is trying to play punk with them after getting a ride.

But not this taxi driver from CITYCAB though.

He simply passed Alex the receipt for the ride so that he could pay him back later

He wasn’t the slightest bit fazed and didn’t given me any sign of being annoyed at all…

I was extremely embarrassed, but after we both searched the seat and floor, he simply passed me his receipt for the journey, so that I could pay after the fact…

Then, The Second Christmas Gift Arrived

So there you are thinking, wow he’s lucky.

But that’s not all that happened to him.

When Alex returned home the next day after running some errands, he realised that a kind soul has left his misplaced wallet by his door.

And it was accompanied by a small note which made his day.

In case you can’t read it:

Hi, Dr Alex, my name is Mahkes, I found your wallet at Woodleigh MRT Station. I dropped by but you’re not home. Take care, please be careful next time. Cheers 🙂

And the best part? The Flashpay card in the wallet has about $150 worth of value. And it was left intact.

S’poreans Can Be Giving Too

This isn’t the only case of Singaporeans being kind to one another.

I mean, there’s this auntie at AMK who refuses to increase the price of her carrot cake because she wants to keep it affordable for fellow elderly.

Or the Grab driver who decided to let a rider ride for free after hearing about her story. And gave her $40 instead.

So yes, kind Singaporeans do exist.

For Christmas this year, are you going to do anything especially kind for your fellow countrymen?
