A man was arrested for allegedly slapping a boy at a children’s indoor playground in Westgate shopping mall. The boy had apparently kicked the man’s daughter earlier.
Here’s what happened.
38-Year-Old Man Allegedly Slaps Boy After Boy Kicks Man’s Daughter
If you’re a parent and you saw a boy kick your daughter, what would you do?
Well, one particular 38-year-old father decided to slap the boy who kicked his daughter.
On 22 December last year, a 38-year-old man allegedly slapped a boy at Yooland, an indoor playground at the Jurong East shopping mall, Westgate.
But the million-dollar question is this: why did the man suddenly slap the boy?
According to Shin Min Daily News, the boy was building a castle when the man’s daughter knocked it down. In response, the boy apparently kicked the man’s daughter.
Once the man realised that the boy had kicked his daughter, he allegedly walked towards the boy and slapped him across his face.
38-Year-Old Man Arrested for Voluntarily Causing Hurt; Could Face Enhanced Penalties
The 38-year-old subsequently confronted the mother of the boy he had just slapped. The boy’s mother apparently apologised to the 38-year-old.
Huh? She apologised even though he slapped her son…?
Yes, you read that right. According to Shin Min Daily News, at that juncture, the boy’s mother did not know that the 38-year-old man had slapped her son.
However, she later found out from an auntie who witnessed the incident that the 38-year-old man had allegedly slapped her son. She then confronted the 38-year-old again, before calling the police.
Once the police are called, that’s how you know it’s serious lah.
The man was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt. As the offence was committed against a person below 14 years of age, the man could face enhanced penalties.
Six-Year-Old Boy Discharged from Hospital But Apparently Remains Affected By Incident
After the incident, the six-year-old boy was conveyed conscious to the hospital for further checks.
He was discharged from the hospital on the same day.
However, according to STOMP, the boy apparently remains affected by the incident. The boy’s father shared that the boy now wakes up in the middle of the night, crying in fear.
He added: “This incident is an unimaginable violation of trust and decency. No adult, under any circumstances, should lay a hand on a child.”
The boy’s father also shared with Shin Min Daily News that even when he punishes his own son, he would never strike his son’s face — he would only hit his arms or legs.
