Here’s a real-life love story that has been trending all over the world. 41-year-old Alexander Pieter Cirk, a Dutchman from Amsterdam, had met a 26-year-old Chinese lady, Alice Zhang, on a social networking app about two months ago.
Their online friendship soon turned into an online relationship, although it’s uncertain whether it’s a one-sided love or not.
Alexander then took the relationship to the next level by sending Alice a photo of air tickets.
He then flew 4,500 km from Holland all the way to Changsha Huanghua International Airport in China, thinking that Alice would be there for him.
But it didn’t turn out the way he had expected. He waited in the airport for ten consecutive days, surviving on cup noodles and sleeping on the seats.
Soon, he got weaker and was eventually rushed to the hospital. It was only after the story went viral that Alice came to know about this.
She had thought that it was merely a joke, telling Hunan television channel this: “We had advanced our romantic relationship but later he seemed a little callous toward me.
One day he sent me a photo of air tickets abruptly, and I thought it was a joke. He didn’t contact me later.”
And the reason why Alexander was waiting blindly in the airport? Alice had turned off her handphone as she was in another city for a plastic surgery.
Apparently, Alexander had been trying to contact her when he was waiting. Alice added that Alexander had once told her that he would only fly to Changsha to meet her next year.
Now that the story has unfolded, here’s the happy ending: although Alexander had booked a return ticket to Holland on Monday, Alice has agreed to meet him after his recovery.
