“Hi 999, what’s your emergency?”
“Hello police I dare you to come and catch me if not I shoot you with a gun.”
Think that won’t happen in Singapore?
You’re wrong. That is based on a true story.
Man jailed for vulgar calls to the police
Ng Chong Guan, 30, made not 1, not 3 but 24 foul-mouthed calls to the police over the span of five days. He told the operator that he was the “gang headman” and a “loan shark syndicate”.
Wow. So scary.
He also told the police to “come Geylang see me”. Naturally, concerned for the safety and welfare of the public, the operator dispatched police resources to Geylang.
Ng could not be found anywhere.
Possibly high on adrenaline from not being caught, he decided to try his luck again on 27 Sept.
He made a foul-mouthed call to the police and the operators were able to track down his IP address and arrest him on the same day.
Ng was Stressed
There are many ways to deal with stress. Some exercise, some listen to music and some people like our crazy boss eats cats alive.
For Ng, he called the police. He claimed that he was stressed when he made the vulgar call to the police.
However, Ng’s lawyer did say that Ng has an antisocial personality disorder and a low IQ.
Not the First Encounter with the Law
In 2015, Ng was jailed for threatening to bomb a clinic. He also threatened to bomb the home of a woman who refused to be his girlfriend in 2016.
He had also attacked a woman in November last year when the stroller that she was pushing hit his girlfriend’s leg.

Literally NO ONE:
Ng: police pls catch me
Really asking for trouble.
Don’t Play Play
In case you’re not aware, the SPF and the SCDF received over 1 million calls in a year, and only 6% of the calls were for real emergencies.
So please, do not call the police “for fun”.

Someone might be getting murdered and your prank calls would only make the police respond slower to an actual emergency.
SPF has warned that anyone found guilty of transmitting false messages will be punished with a fine of up to $10,000, jailed up to 3 years, or both.
Meanwhile, Ng was jailed for 15 months. For committing offences while out of prison on a remission order, he was given an enhanced two-day jail term as well.
In short, don’t do it.
Don’t be like Ng.
If you’re stressed, just go out and run.
