Around a year ago, multinational retailer Marks & Spencer announced it would be closing its Raffles City outlet on 31 Dec.
The announcement saddened loyal customers, as the store had been in operation since 1986.
Like many other stores closing down during the pandemic, Marks & Spencer held a closing down sale with discounts of up to 70% off.
“Thank you for 34 amazing years of memories”, the store said.
However, 31 Dec passed, and the store remained open. It later said that it was able to continue serving customers at the store, declining to elaborate on why it decided to remain open.
Well, it’s now one year later, and they’ve made a very similar announcement this year.
Marks & Spencer Closing & Relocating Raffle City Store
The British retail chain announced that it would be shutting their Raffles City outlet on 31 December.
It announced the move in a Facebook post:
“Our last day of operation at Raffles City will be on 31 December 2021. We’d like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude, as we are ever thankful for your kind patronage over the past 35 years,” it said.
Marks & Spencer said it would be moving its store to another location within the mall, and that it was closing “in conjunction with the mall’s 2022 rejuvenation plan.”
“As a long-term partner of Raffles City, we are relocating to new premises within the mall and details will be shared in due course. In the meantime, Marks & Spencer Raffles City store will be celebrating the year-end festivities with a series of attractive promotions and sales from now till the last day of operation in Raffles City on 31 December 2021,” it added.

Offering Discounts of up to 70% in Moving Out Sale
The retailer announced that as part of its relocation plans, it will be having a moving out sale until its last day of operations: 31 Dec.
Customers can look forward to discounts of up to 70%.
Customers will also receive a $10 gift voucher with any purchase they make at the Raffles City store. This will only be valid for in-store purchases and on selected items, the chain said. But the voucher itself will be valid for purchases at all Marks & Spencer stores across the country from 1 Jan 2022.
