If you’ve missed out on your chance to get some Singapore $20 notes for yourself, don’t cry just yet.
Or pay $988 for a $20 note on Carousell.
Because MAS has announced that they’re giving you another chance to fight over it.
MAS Pulled A McDonald’s
Remember how McDonald’s did their Nasi Lemak burger the previous time? It launched, sold out within weeks and brought it back again because Singaporeans want it.
And now, the Monetary Association of Singapore (MAS) is doing it as well.
On 14 Jun, they announced that because Singaporeans want it so bad (probably based on reports from social media, you’re welcome *wink wink*), they’ll be issuing another 2 million $20 bicentennial notes.
They promise that the notes will be available near the end of the year, around the Oct to Nov period.
Now, in case you didn’t know what happened, here’s a quick flashback
While people aren’t so gung-ho about the bicentennial angle Singapore is playing at this year, they love the notes.
So much so that some banks sold out within 15 minutes.
Just look at the image below.
This is a queue at Hougang UOB branch. And it’s indicative of what’s happening across Singapore.
Banks Started Running Out Within The Week Of The Launch
The Hougang UOB branch ran out of $20 notes by 10 am. The DBS branch at Toa Payoh ran out within 30 minutes of opening.
And the OCBC branch at Toa Payoh ran out within 15 minutes.
If you’re thinking, that’s Toa Payoh and Hougang, where the old people live, think again.
More than half of DBS and POSB branches ran out before the day ended. At least 15 OCBC branches ran out by mid-day.
And scalpers are having a heyday with some listing reselling their loot at up to $988.
What are the bicentennial notes all about?
$20 notes aren’t anything new to Singapore. We used to have them.
But what makes these notes so special?
The TL; DR? They’re a tribute to our nation’s journey from an island with a lion to the metropolis it is today.

Here’s A Tip
How do you increase your chance of these notes when it’s available again?
Here’s a suggestion by one of our readers:
Nice.
