You’re taking your Final Theory Test, with dreams of driving all around the country with your friends, and you’ve come to the last question:

You’re the driver of the white Mercedes car in the bus bay, and you intend to rejoin traffic. What should you do?

a) Go back in time and avoid driving through or stopping at the bus bay, because it’s not permitted (bet you didn’t know that)

b) Accept that you’ve already made a mistake, and rejoin traffic on the leftmost lane when it’s safe to do so.

c) Signal left but then cut in front of a huge truck on the right

Unfortunately, we don’t have the technology for a) and c) is clearly wrong, so b) is the best option.

But that’s not what the actual driver of the Mercedes went for in reality.

Mercs in Truck’s Blind Spot Crashed As It Tried to Squeeze into Truck’s Lane

A video of a huge dump truck hitting a Mercedes that tried to squeeze into its lane has made the rounds on social media.

Footage of the accident was shared on YouTube by ROADS sg 2 on Tuesday (15 Dec).

At the beginning of the video, a white Mercedes slowly slides out of a bus bay and comes to a rest in a yellow box on the leftmost lane of the road.

Its front is jutting out into the middle lane, however, and it’s clear that the driver intends to filter there once the green light flashes and traffic moves.

Meanwhile, for some unknown reason, the driver of the Mercedes signals left.

Then, at the 25-second mark, the green light comes on, and traffic starts moving.

If we were in the middle lane, we’d likely give way to the Mercedes, or if we were not very nice, swerve past it and speed up.

The problem here is that the truck driver seems to have no idea that there’s a car in his path, as he rams into the Mercedes.

The dump truck stops immediately, and the video ends there.

Given how high up the truck’s driver eyeline was, and considering the Mercedes was both ahead of him and in his blind spot, it may be possible that the truck driver wasn’t able to spot the filtering Mercedes.

Aftermath

A commenter on the video shared a picture of the aftermath of the accident, showing the damage done.

The left side of the Mercedes’ front bumper has come off, while the truck seems to have remained intact, with the exception of a slight dent in the right side of its front bumper.

While it’s hard to say who’s at fault here, most of the commenters seem to think it’s the driver of the Mercedes.
