This is a dream come true for many of us.
You see, for old people like us, a MILO van isn’t just free MILO—it’s an icon of our childhood, and the taste of it is priceless. While MILO has come out with MILO Ice Energy, the packaged convenience drink that just requires ice water to recreate the taste of MILO Van’s MILO, it merely brings back the taste and not the excitement.
If you think MILO vans spawn in Singapore like how Snorlax spawns in Pokémon GO, you’re wrong. According to Nestlé’s website, the MILO vans can apparently be requested. Its purpose is to “participates and supports meaningful and relevant community projects and activities that promote nutrition, health and wellness.” Bet you didn’t know that, eh?
So, earlier this month, when Nathan Hartono became the front-runner to win Sing! China, he mentioned in an interview that he would rent a fleet of MILO vans and treat everyone to MILO Peng. Maybe it was a joke, but MILO took it very seriously.
About four hours later, MILO Singapore Facebook Page responded.
I like how they responded with that Singapore touch: “No need to rent, also can.”
And they make good their promise.
Nestlé Singapore will deploy a MILO van at the outdoor plaza of Plaza Singapura tomorrow (7 October 2016) from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This will also be the day that Nathan Hartono will be competing in the finals.
As part of their support, Nestlé also mentioned that more MILO vans will be deployed to sites in the north, east and west of Singapore. The reason why they had chosen Plaza Singapura as its first stop is due to its high volume of pedestrian traffic, and that it is “convenient” and “accessible”.
Oh, Nestlé, you know, Bukit Batok Crescent has a high volume of pedestrian traffic, and it’s convenient and accessible, too. Make your next stop here?
