9 People Injured After Mini-School Bus Overturned Along CTE

School bus rides may have been an enjoyable memory for most of us, but it’s not always laughter and giggles when you’re on the road.

The age-old saying,”The streets are like the jaws of death” still stands, as just this morning (7 February), a school bus overturned along the Central Expressway (CTE).

It is still unclear why the accident happened, and all injured parties have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Mini-School Bus Overturned On Highway

According to Shin Min Daily News, the accident occurred at around 8.10am along CTE towards Tampines Expressway (TPE) near the Seletar West Link Exit.

An eyewitness claimed that the driver had likely lost control of the bus.

This caused the school bus to skid on the expressway, and eventually resulting in the bus overturning in the middle of the road.

As reported by Shin Min, the minibus was severely damaged after the incident. Its roof was badly dented, its windshield was broken and large amounts of engine oil spilled out onto the ground as well.

A gruesome sight indeed.

Additionally, according to this video, it seems like the overturned minibus blocked one of the lanes on the expressway, which may have caused some form of traffic during the peak hour.

It also illustrates personnel being deployed to ensure the safety of other road users as the scene gets cleaned up.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also posted this traffic update on their Twitter account shortly afterwards.

Nine Sent to Hospital; Includes Driver

After the incident, it was confirmed by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) that nine people in total, including the driver, were sent to hospital for further medical treatment.
