Mister Donut, the renowned Japanese doughnut brand that made a successful debut in Singapore with a pop-up store in Jurong Point in 2022, is all set to open its first permanent outlet at Junction 8 on 21 May 2023.
What sets Mister Donut apart from other major doughnut brands such as Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts is its unique Japanese-inspired recipes.
Well, Singaporeans can finally relish Mister Donut’s delectable doughnuts from May 2023.
In fact, kiasu citizens who arrive early at their Junction 8 outlet can also look forward to receiving exclusive giveaways in the form of Mister Donut stickers and folders.
Mister Donut Opening in Junction 8 on 21 May With A Purchase Limit
On 21 May 2023, Mister Donut will open its new outlet, with prices ranging from $2.30 to $2.50 per doughnut.
Customers can purchase half a dozen doughnuts for $14 or ten doughnuts for $23, with a maximum limit of ten doughnuts per transaction.
This should come as no surprise, as during the operation of their 2022 pop-up store, customers queued for up to five hours and bought out all the doughnuts earlier than expected.
Even after a purchase limit of 30 pieces per customer was imposed, the doughnuts still sold out.
Members Allowed Early Access
Members of RE&S Rewards, the operator of Mister Donut, will have the privilege of early access to the outlet on 20 May 2023, with the option to purchase a ten-piece box set for $23.
However, they will not be able to choose the flavours.
Each box will contain two each of the Pon de Ring Original and Pon de Ring Strawberry, one each of Chocolate Old Fashion, French Cruller, cream-stuffed Cruller Angel French, Sugar Raised, and a Singapore-exclusive Strawberry Chocolate doughnut ring.
Only 300 member-exclusive boxes are available. Hence, each member can purchase only one box.
Non-members will also enjoy perks with Mister Donut’s opening promotion on 21 May 2023, which includes limited edition folders, stickers, and other items with every purchase, while stocks last.
Exclusive Local Offerings
Customers in Singapore need not worry about having limited options due to purchase limits.
In fact, Mister Donut’s outlet in Singapore will offer more than 20 doughnut flavours, including exclusive ones, to celebrate its arrival in the country.
For instance, Singapore-exclusive flavours, like Chocolate and Strawberry Chocolate, will be available for their renowned Pon De Ring doughnuts.
These flavours are unavailable for other outlets, which only offer the Original flavour.
Mister Donut’s menu also features their French Cruller doughnuts.
These deep-fried pastries, famous in Europe and North America, come in tempting flavours like Angel French and Custard Strawberry French.
The Angel French flavour elevates the hard textured Cruller and tops the pastry with a cloud of airy whipped cream and chocolate coating, making it irresistible for those with a sweet tooth.
For something crunchier, their Old Fashion doughnuts bring more bite and come in variations of Strawberry or Chocolate.
Customers who love chocolate can opt for their Chocolate Rings, which also come in other flavours like Strawberry Chocolate, Golden Chocolate and Coconut Chocolate.
Traditional Yeast Doughnuts are also available for those who want something simple.
It comes in flavours like Honey Dip, Sugar Raised, Chocolate Ring, Strawberry Ring, Angel Cream and Custard Cream.
The traditional doughnuts’ usual gritty sugar coating is swapped with a sticky honey glaze that goes well with a steaming cup of tea for their Honey Dip flavour.
Popular Items Are Made On-Site
It should be noted that while some items on the menu are factory-made, Mister Donut’s most popular offerings, such as their Pon de Ring, French Cruller, and Old Fashioned doughnuts, are freshly made on-site by their kitchen staff and fried in-store.
All staff undergo training at Mister Donut’s Academy in Osaka to learn how to make the doughnuts from scratch, including the batter, which is prepared according to precise measurements from the brand’s secret recipe and loaded into specialised dispensing machines.
Upon completing their training, trainee staff must pass an exam to receive their certification before being deemed “qualified” to work in their outlets.
Yes, you read that correctly – one now requires a “degree” to make doughnuts.
This exam entails producing items like Crullers flawlessly within a specified time period.
The attention to detail in creating their high-quality doughnuts is probably why it takes Mister Donut’s staff longer to produce them in-store and why a purchase limit is in place for each customer.
