On 17 Mar 2021, it was reported that a mother made use of a boy’s affections for her daughter to sexually assault him.

Here’s what happened.

Boy Likes Girl

The accused, a 45-year-old woman who can’t be named due to a gag order, has a 13-year-old daughter.

She was good friends with a 15-year-old boy who had a low IQ of 56.

Both of them attended the same school for those with mild intellectual disability and mild autism.

The woman became acquainted with the boy through her daughter and started calling him “dear” in Mar 2020.

It was reported that the woman saw him as her godson..

Knowing that the boy likes her daughter, she decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

Grooming Him For A Relationship

After the school March holidays, she started inviting the boy over to her home.

Hoping to see the girl he likes, the boy agreed.

The boy would arrive in the morning and leave at night, doing his homework and playing games in their home.

It was added that the boy would get on top of the girl and kiss her with the mother watching.

Stayover For A Week

The mother managed to persuade the boy’s mother into allowing him to stay over at their home for a week.

Her condition was that the boy has to sleep separately with no physical interaction.

During the week, however, the boy slept between the mother and her daughter.

The accused would hug the boy and kiss him on the mouth.

She also told the boy that she would teach him how to kiss and emphasised that it can only be done at home and not in public.

On two occasions, she also masturbated the boy despite his discomfort, which he voiced out.

Fortunately, the entire incident was revealed when the boy told social workers what happened.

1-Year Jail Term

The prosecutor requested a 1-year-2-month jail term for her offences.

The offence has “elements of premeditation” and she had exploited a vulnerable victim’s liking for her daughter.

She has also abused the trust that was placed in her by the boy’s mother.

In response, the accused pleaded for leniency, requesting a fine instead of a jail term.

She claims that she is the main caregiver of her special needs child, and that she has to be around her husband and parents.

It was added that her parents have disabilities.

“Can it be a fine instead of go (to) prison, because of my daughter, (who) actually needs me a lot, she cannot go without a mother.

“My husband is not the real father of her, so most of the time I’m the one taking care of her … I don’t wish to be inside the prison; it’s my first time offending this and I won’t commit again.”

The judge, however, told her that she had committed very serious offences which call for jail-time.

On 17 Mar 2021, the mother was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of committing an indecent act with a young person.
