If there’s a movie that you’re going to watch for Christmas this year, Knives Out is probably not it.

I mean, a festive season with creepy grandpas sneaking down chimneys to children’s room? Why would you go for something so morbid?

Unless you’re one of the writer cats in the office who finds jokes like these funny:

That and you realise what was supposed to be the Christmas movie of the year has flopped. Badly.

So.

Knives Out, what about it?

Here’s the synopsis:

KNIVES OUT is a fresh, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect. Directed by Rian Johnson (LOOPER and STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI), the film tells of how Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate the death of Harlan Thrombey.

From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT keeps audiences guessing until the very end.

In other words, if you love reading mystery books when you were young and trying to solve them, this is the movie for you.

Detective…James Bond?

If the name Daniel Craig doesn’t ring a bell, let’s try his other name. James Bond.

With what I like to call the James Bond humour, he struggles to unravel the mystery with the help of rich, uncooperative suspects.

One of which is Chris Evans.

Yes, Captain America, as we normally know him as.

But in this movie, he will present a whole new side to him. The douchebag side.

You can look forward to his performance which will make you hate his guts, yet love his antics at the same time.

Expect Twists, Lots & Lots of Twist

A murder mystery novel or movie is full of twists. That’s to be expected.

But this movie performs far above the average with two major twists. I’m not going to tell you what they are, because, well…

Instead, I’ll say this: you probably won’t expect them. Not in this lifetime.

And to show that the twists are indeed powerful, here’s how the movie fared so far.

Really, Really Well

This movie was a hit with audiences, with 96% on the Tomatometer and 93% on the audience score.

If I had grades like these, I’ll probably be a president scholar now instead of writing in Goody Feed.

Daniel Craig’s delivery was impressive, and the movie was smart, witty, stylish and exciting.

All in all, definitely a must-watch for the Christmas season this year.

Don’t just take my words, check out the trailer for the movie yourself:
