What is the deal with these guys?

Can they really not control themselves to the point where they have to sexually assault someone to get a few seconds of gratification?

It seems like no news day in Singapore is complete without another sickening story of sexual misconduct.

Man Who Used Penis To Touch Woman on MRT Jailed Five Months

A 55-year-old man was sentenced to five months’ jail on Tuesday (21 Jan) for using criminal force to outrage a 31-year-old woman’s modesty.

The man, Mohamad Rasid Mohamad Sani, was working as a technical support officer at the Institute of Technical Education in Ang Mo Kio at the time, according to CNA.

Occurred on train

On May 13 last year, Sani boarded a train at Woodleigh MRT Station towards Dhoby Ghaut. It’s here where the outrage of modesty occurred.

The 31-year-old victim boarded the same train at Boon Keng station. When she made way for other passengers to alight at Little India, she ended up standing in front of Rasid.

“The accused became sexually aroused when his groin area made contact with the victim’s buttocks,” said Deputy Public Prosecutor Koh Mun Keong.

Sani then pulled down his underwear and exposed his erect penis through his pants zipper. He then used it to touch the victim’s buttocks.

The molestation lasted for three to four seconds.

Shouted and took a photo

The victim turned around to see what was poking her and saw the accused’s penis protruding from an opening in his pants.

She immediately shouted at him and took a photo of him, court documents said.

Arrested and fired

Sani was later arrested after the incident was reported to the control station’s officers at Dhoby Ghaut.

For some reason, Sani’s defence lawyer Harjeet Kaur felt the need to mention that the train was “extremely crowded” at the time, after noting that Sani had no previous convictions.

So what if it was crowded?

Sani was also fired from his job in December as a result of the offence.

For using criminal force to outrage the woman’s modesty, Rasid could have been jailed for up to two years, fined, caned, or given any combination of these punishments.

No empathy for victims

The people who commit these crimes obviously don’t appreciate how traumatising it is for the victim.

It may be a few seconds or minutes of pleasure for you, but it’ll be a lifetime of trauma for the victim.
