Have your parents promised you anything if you achieved good grades? Probably the latest game, or maybe some shoes that you really wanted?

I would never know, seeing as I never achieved any good grades.

However, a boy in Malaysia received something far cooler. Cold, hard cash. RM10,000 (~S$3,200) to be exact.

An Expensive Reward

Danish was going to sit for his UPSR examinations soon (it is one of the major examinations that children who go to government schools have to take).

However, he often spent too much time on his football practice, missing out on key lessons and study time.

His parents then decided to motivate him with an unusual reward: RM10,000.

Receiving that much cash for getting good results sure does sound like a really great deal.

This reward was not easy for Danish’s parents to materialise though.

His parents are from a humble background, running a small cafe. They dug into their savings and scrimped by for three months to come up with enough money for the reward, just to motivate their child.

The amount of dedication just to make sure their child knows that his hard work will be paid off and how they’re willing to save on themselves just to provide their child the best really show how much they love him.

Work For Reward

From then on, Danish started working really hard for his reward. He worked so hard that his parents found him fast asleep after revising till too late at night!

Although Danish’s eventual results were not straight As, everyone was still very pleased with it, and the hard work he put in.

Danish said he would put the money in the bank, and not waste it frivolously. A very wise choice despite his young age.

We hope Danish and his family will have a great holiday together to celebrate his great results and their hard work.
