M’sian Student Complains After National Exam Paper Was Allegedly Leaked On Telegram; Exam Board Denies It

While Singaporeans complain about ‘devastating’ PSLE Math Papers, our neighbours across the border have a different set of worries.

Especially when it comes to their national exams, the PT3 central examination, otherwise known as Form Three Assessment.

What Is PT3 And When Did The ‘Leaks’ Allegedly Occur?

This central examination is administered by schools based on a standardised scoring instrument guide prepared by the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate.

Lower-secondary students sit for these exams.

Recently, various claims have been floating around the internet, which allegedly stated that the PT3 exam papers have been leaked and were circulating on Telegram chat groups.

These papers include English, Mathematics and Geography.

However, Malaysia’s Examinations Syndicate came forward on 4 October to deny these allegations.

Student Complains That “It Isn’t Fair” That Classmates Got The Leaked Papers Earlier

Despite Malaysia’s Examination Syndicate refuting claims that the PT3 papers were leaked, a student had complained to World Of Buzz

He told them that “it isn’t fair” and claims that the PT3 papers were indeed leaked.

He expressed great disappointment in his fellow classmates and found it unfair as he had worked hard but others who got their hands on the leaked papers would “pass effortlessly.”

Described His Experience Sitting For The Exam

He said, “That morning I was stressing myself out, so I asked my friend for help. But instead of helping me, she told me to do this ‘math module’ that she got from her friend.”

At first, he thought that it was a mock paper, but later realised after sitting for the PT3 math paper that it was the same questions.

“70% of my friends completed the module and had, of course, managed to answer all of the questions in the real paper.”

He expressed his shock that the ‘math module paper’ was exactly the same as the exam paper. He also said that he couldn’t answer some of the questions since he only looked at it briefly before the actual exam in the morning.

“I was shocked, really shocked. The module and exam paper were exactly similar. With the front cover and everything. I couldn’t answer some of the questions in the exam, since I just took a quick read of the leaked paper that morning before the examination started.”

Unsurprisingly, the other students who didn’t get their hands on the leaked papers were angry because their other classmates who did “were obviously cheating.”

Students Wanted To Complain So Everyone Would Retake The Examination

These students had initially wanted to make a complaint to report the issue and get everyone to retake the paper. However, according to the student, even the teachers refused to take action on the leaked papers.

They were then allegedly told to “leave the issue alone.”

He also said that he just wanted the national exams to be fair for everyone.

“I’m writing about this today because I want it to be fair. It’s really wrong for me to just look at all of the cheaters score an A without even having work put into it. I’m not jealous, I just want to be a speaker for all of the students who had been working hard for the PT3 examination.”

Latest Update By Malaysia Exam Board

The Education Ministry has announced that PT3 will go on as per normal and that there is no need to resit the exams.

Students will sit for the remaining Science, History, Religious Studies and Bahasa Melayu papers from 7 October to 9 October.

Well, maybe these kids have learned another lesson.

Life’s never fair.
