Unlike the 2GB data bundle of before, data is getting cheaper as time passes.
Previously, it was S$10 for a single extra GB of data but now? You can get it at lesser than a single dollar.
But as low as S$0.30?
Well, that’s exactly what MyRepublic is doing.
MyRepublic Launched a Data-Only Mobile Plan That’s Less Than $0.30 for 1 GB of Data
For S$3.99 per month, you can get your hands on a plan that gives you up to 14GB worth of data per month.
This data bundle consists of high-speed data, with an additional 10GB worth of data at 1Mbps.
If you do the math right, that’s 28.5 cents per 1GB worth of data.
But there’s a catch to this: as you probably know by now, it’s a data-only mobile plan.
That means no free call minutes or SMS, but here’s why you won’t need them anyway.
Who Is It For?
According to MyRepublic, this new data-only plan serves a specific target market.
It’s for those looking to beef up their currently-available data bundle for cheap as a secondary SIM.
Imagine having a S$39.90 telco plan with 4GB worth of data; instead of paying an additional S$10 (or more) for extra data, you can opt to go for MyRepublic’s plan provided you have a second SIM Card slot in your phone.
That or for young teenagers who are learning to be responsible for their phones.
Well, there’s a third use I can foresee for this: for use in LTE-enabled tablets.
No Punishing Overconsumption
MyRepublic does not punish its users for overconsuming their data bundle by charging sky-high prices for excess data used.
Should they exceed their data allowance, users can purchase “data boosters” for just S$4 per GB.
Should they want to wait until the next billing cycle, they can; after all, there’s the additional 10GB data although it’ll be really slow.
Customers who realise they need more data on a regular basis can also easily upgrade to MyRepublic’s higher-tier plans.
Not Available To The Public Yet
Now, if you’re salivating and can’t wait to get more data for cheap, hold up.
Currently, this data-only goodness is available for MyRepublic fibre broadband customers only.
For members of the general public, we’ll need to wait until 2022.
For those who are eligible, you can sign up through the dashboard of MyRepublic’s MyAccount, partner or official stores.
