Let me pose you one of the most serious questions in 2018: is the word Nasi Lemak a noun, or a verb?
According to acclaimed linguist Dr Maxnotwell, ever since end-2017, the word “Nasi Lemak” has evolved into a verb. He theorized that ever since the Nasi Lemak Burger’s arrival, made popular by McDonald’s, the number of times people said “Let’s Nasi Lemak this” has increased by 8,291,212%, leading to him publishing a paper, “Nasi Lemak is now a verb.”
You’ve got to admit that he’s half right.

We’ve got Nasi Lemak Burger, Nasi Lemak ice-ceam, Nasi Lemak curry puff and even Nasi Lemak cake.
And just so you know, while I made up a certain linguist whose name for some reason made me hungry, the foods mentioned are real AF.
We’re certainly so into Nasi Lemak, I’m waiting for someone to name their kids Nasi Lemak, but anyways.
Another company has jumped on the bandwagon, and it’s certainly working very well because the product is sold out.
Nasi Lemak Kit Kat
We all know Kit Kat: the sweet goodness is so popular in Japan, there’s a Sake version, a green tea version and recently, a Teh Peng version.
Heck, there’s even a wasabi version.
The world’s weird like that.
People in Japan are so obsessed with it that it’s considered a good luck charm.
Over here in Singapore, all we know is that if we want a break, we go for a Kit Kat, because “Have a break. Have a Kit Kat!”
It seems like the obsession has spilled over in Singapore, because Nasi Lemak Kit Kat is now a thing.
A special edtion of Kit Kat is now available exclusively in Redmart.
I kid you not. Take a look.
Yes, granted it doesn’t look like the typical Kit Kat you see in NTUC FairPrice, but it certainly doesn’t look like nasi lemak, too.
At $7.50 a box in Redmart, it’s not exactly the cheapest thing in the world, but hey: Nasi Lemak Kit Kat leh. You don’t look at the price for this kind of thing.
Want to get it? Just log in to your Redmart—oh, wait.
Of course it has to be sold out.
I mean, my boss who looks like Nasi Lemak would have bought it immediately.
It’s unknown when it’ll be restocked, but you can click on the “Notify Me” when it’s back in stock.

Nasi Lemak Kit Kat isn’t the Other Weird Flavours
Well, of course not.
There’s also a durian Kit Kat…
…and an ice kacang Kit Kat.
The durian one is sold out because anything that’s durianified would definitely fly off the digital shelf of Redmart, but the ice-kacang one is still in stock.
But given that we’ve written about this and that we can provide outrageous reach on our platform (my boss forced me to insert this in so he’ll have more clients and he can buy a new Mercs), I’ve a feeling that the ice-kacang one would be sold out shortly once this article is out.
In the meantime, I’m still trying to imagine how nasi lemak would taste…as a Kit Kat.
