Deets on National Day Concert 2023
Do you know that other than the National Day Parade, there’s actually a National Day Concert 2023? While it might not have existed for over decades, it’s still something to look forward to every year.
This year, the National Day Concert will take place on 5 August 2023, 7:30pm, at The Meadow, a 22,000 sq m venue the size of three football fields located in Gardens by the Bay.
Yes, it’s still smaller than the Ridout Road land that K. Shanmugam rented, but if you head there, you’d at least know how much land Shanmugam needs to maintain.

Everything About the National Day Concert 2023 on 5 Aug That Features Singers Like Kit Chan & Joanna Dong
Can’t get your Taylor Swift tickets? Phew, who cares?
On 5 August 2023, our beloved local singers like Kit Chan, Mavis Hee, and many more are all set to rock the stage at the annual Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert. And the best part?
It’s free, and you don’t need to queue up outside a SingPost outlet for days, nor do you need to refresh your browser swiftly.
What to Expect in the National Day Concert 2023
Our very own home-grown gem, Kit Chan, is gonna serenade us with the all-time favourite 1998 National Day Parade (NDP) anthem, “Home”.
That’s more expected than an influencer showing us her house tour again, amirite?
On the other hand, Mavis Hee’s ready to touch our hearts with her stirring ballads like the timeless “Moon River” and “Moonlight In The City”, the theme song of our very own local Chinese-language drama, Tofu Street. Cue the nostalgia, and feel old (again).
But wait, there’s more.

Taylor Swift—oh, sorry, wrong article.
Remember Shak’thiya Subramaniamm and Joanna Dong, the voices behind the 2018 edition of NDP song “We Are Singapore”? Yah, they’re gonna grace the stage too. Not to forget the veteran artistes, Clement Chow and Ann Hussein; actor-singers Ayden Sng and Jaynesh Isuran; singing duo The Freshman; vocal groups MICappella, Vocaluptuous and Voices Of Singapore; singer-host Suthasini Rajendran; and the rising stars from Mediacorp’s Malay reality singing competition, ‘Juara Mic Junior’. Talk about a power-packed night!
(Now, we’re just missing Taylor Swift and Coldplay. Hopefully ICA can approve their PR application soon?)
Your Hosts for the Night
Keeping the night lively and the crowd pumped will be the charming duo of radio deejay Vernetta Lopez and actor-host-singer Fauzie Laily. What’s more?
They’ll be pairing up with singer-songwriter Umar Sirhan for a mash-up of your favourite chart-topping pop tracks.

Food, Games, and…Fireworks!
Not just your ears, but your taste buds are in for a treat, too.
Enjoy free food, including special ice cream flavours whipped up by the contestants from the fourth season of our local reality cooking series, MasterChef Singapore. Plus, there’s a carnival for you to enjoy.
I’m telling you, you can’t get that in a Taylor Swift concert.
As if that wasn’t enough, Mr Felix Loh, chief executive of Gardens by the Bay, says this year’s edition will be extra special. “We can finally have a full-scale concert without the restraints of the pandemic. To celebrate the return to our original venue at The Meadow, we will be staging a crowd favourite – fireworks – for the first time.”
You can’t see fireworks in a Taylor Swift concert, can you?
