Love watching fireworks display during National Day but hate being part of the seething crowd in town?
Especially when it comes to going home time and you realise it’s a hundred times worse than morning peak hours.
Well, if you’re exactly like the person we described above, this article is for you.
National Day Parade 2023 Fireworks Happening in 5 Heartlands on 9 August 2023
According to the NDP committee, five heartland sites will hold a fireworks display this National Day.
The best part? It’s scattered across the island:
Folks, if you stay near these sites, how about renting out your kitchen window for 30 minutes on 9 August?
The fireworks displays are slated to happen between 8:15pm and 8:25pm, concurrent with the display at the National Day Parade.
While it likely wouldn’t be as packed as the Padang and Marina Bay areas, it would be a good idea to make your way down earlier.
Space within these locations are limited and it’ll be on a first-come-first-served basis.
The various heartlands fireworks sites will be open from 6pm.
More Than Just Fireworks: Island Wide Flyby
A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that there’ll be more jets in the aerial display this National Day.
No, the zhnged display isn’t in celebration of finally being able to get back in the skies now that COVID-19 is over—it’s in celebration of the RSAF’s 55th anniversary.
Before the parade starts at the Padang, two CH-47SD Chinook helicopters will fly the Singapore flag across Singapore.
Each chopper will be accompanied by two AH-64D Apache helicopters, aka the angel of Singapore Armour units.
These choppers will fly two different routes:
- Western route: Fly past areas such as Woodlands, Choa Chu Kang and Jurong
- Eastern route: Fly past areas such as Bukit Timah, Toa Payoh, Bishan, Pasir Ris, Tampines and Changi
The flag-flying segment will start from around 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
For the aerial display, the contingent of aircrafts includes one A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport and six F-16D+ and three F-15SG fighter aircrafts.
These impressive flying machines will fly in the vicinity of the five heartlands site.
Once again, if you stay near any of the sites, want to rent out your kitchen window?
Be prepared to be impressed by the RSAF55-F-15SG with its RSAF55 tail flash as well.
National Day Heartland Activities: Sports & More
Can’t wait for NDP to roll around already? Fret not—there’ll be events before 9 August for Singaporeans to soak in the national day spirit before the parade.
On 5 and 6 August, make your way down to the GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals happening at the five heartland locations.
The sites will host the festivities on both days from 4pm to 9pm, except for Our Tampines Hub, which will only host activities on 6 Aug 2023.
Some fun activities include:
- Sports tryouts for Athletics, basketball, floorball, football, hockey, table tennis and tennis
- Experience exciting sports such as archery, skateboarding, roller skating, Nerf and Zorb ball
- Travel back in time with kampung games
- Family bonding with bouncy castles, community mural painting and stuffing yourself at snack booths
There’ll also be entertainment such as live stage performances.
