Sometimes, hotels make you mad with their rigid rules, especially if you have other pressing matters to attend to.
Most normal human beings would’ve just grumbled about it to a friend or two.
Some, however, decides to take their vengeance directly, such as burning the hotel’s towels.
S’pore Navy Serviceman Allegedly Burned Hotel Towels After Staff Told Them Room is for 2 & Not 3
On 12 Sep 2017, 29-year-old Cai Wenhao and 34-year-old Liu Shengshun, also Cai’s superior, visited a KTV bar at Foch Road.
The two were servicemen in the Singapore Navy according to Lianhe Wanbao.
Later at night, both of them decided to go to a nearby hotel with a Vietnamese woman.
Cai had gone ahead with the woman to book a hotel room and Liu joined them in the room later.

Upon discovering that there are three people in the room, hotel staff came up to their room and asked for one of them to leave.
Only two guests are permitted to a room, they said.
When Liu asked if they can change to a room that can accommodate three people, the hotel staff rejected him.
Liu left the premises to smoke after and allegedly set fire to the hotel’s towels that were placed behind the hotel.
Caught By CCTV
The police, upon reviewing CCTV footage, found that the arsonist had gone to Cai’s room.
When questioned if he knew the culprit, Cai had reportedly lied, saying that he did not know the person.
This cause the police to expend more resources into trying to establish the arsonist’s identity.
It turns out that Cai was afraid of betraying his superior who might “make things difficult” for him at work.
Cai has pleaded guilty to providing false information and was sentenced to a 10-day short detention order.
Liu, on the other hand, did not plead guilty to the charge of arson. He will return to court for trial on 2 July 2020.
