Over the years, generations upon generations have been coming up with improved ideas on how to prevent fire accidents from happening.

From standing in a line from the river to the blaze with people passing buckets of water in the past, to new and improved fire extinguishers in the current days, people have tried and tested numerous methods.

In Singapore, we’re blessed to have a specialised team of fire fighters ready to discharge jets of water or foam to extinguish fires in the quickest time. However, in other less developed countries, fire fighters may have a lack of time or equipment to execute the task in the same amount of time.

Apart from fire accidents, for a period of time, Singapore faces potential health hazards due to the surge of bad air from the forest fires in Indonesia. Imagine the clear sky if we could extinguish those fires.

Recently, Thailand’s local company, Elite Fire Ball Pro Co., Ltd, made history in the long list of methods to extinguish fires. Their product, although containing similar elements, is different on the outside.

Created due to a tragedy in 1997 where a fire took many lives and properties, the founder, Mr Phanawatnan Kaimart decided to create a new and improved product to prevent such accidents from happening again.

He mentioned that the problem with old extinguishers is that the users have to stand at a 1.5-meter distance away from the fire in order to extinguish the blaze.

Further problems include the heavy weight and lack of maintenance that comes along with the fire extinguisher. Although an improved product since the days of bucket water, he felt that they could do better.

After multiple tests and tries of different models on the lands of Chonburi near the Gulf of Thailand, he settled on the current model of the Elide Fire Ball.

Aren’t you impressed by this small ball that can save numerous lives? Weighing at 1.3kg, the ball is designed to be lightweight so it can be thrown by anybody, even a trapped child or elderly people that happened to be alone at home.

When thrown, one ball can extinguish a space of around 1.2 metres while 2 balls can cover 2.5 metres. Unlike the extinguisher that we have currently, the ball can be thrown directly into the fire, exploding in 3 seconds and covering the flame in 360-degree directions while you run away for help.

Besides being able to self-activate when it comes into contact with fire, the Elide Fire Ball also emit an alarm, alerting others and preventing potential tragedies.

The chemicals in the ball are not harmful to humans and the environment and is certified by standard laboratories in many countries.

It is also said that when activated, the explosion that expels foam in the ball will not damage any properties as it is only strong enough to extinguish the fires.

The company also designed a mount where it can be mounted around the house, for example,  at the top of a circuit breaker. They are advised to place the balls at high-risk areas so when a fire arises, the ball will detect and proceed to self-activate.

What a splendid model in firefighting, now, imagine throwing hundreds of Elide Fire Balls into the forest fires in Indonesia. You could almost hear the cheers of neighbouring countries because we all got our clear skies back.
