In case you haven’t heard, Singapore’s biggest slide park up north has opened itself to the public a few days back (28 Oct 2017).
No lah, it’s not in Yishun. It’s in Admiralty Park. Not all good things happen in Yishun one, okay?
It has got 26 slides to its name, and there’s even one that an entire family can sit on (up to 4 people ya) and slide down. This one goes by the name of Family Slide.
There are also not one, but three play spots, which are made to suit kids from toddlers to teens. According to word from the National Parks Board, it also has a unique feature, dubbed the “diverse play equipment”.
If you love nature, you’d want to check the Admiralty Park out in December, when its nature area opens its space to all. It will have spots like viewing platforms and even a mangrove boardwalk. The reason of having this particular segment was to bring the people back to nature and help them reconnect with the greenery.
Because, you know, the only greenery we see now…is the Grab logo in our smartphone #justsaying
The revamping of the Admiralty Park is actually mostly based on feedback collated on how to improve the place. People wanted to see more family-friendly joints, but still keep it green and serene. The hill’s terrain has been used to incorporate activities too.
And if there’s one particular slide you have to try, it has got to be the 32-metre long slide, which even has special lights installed apart from holding the placard of the country’s widest slide on the outdoor end.
The park also has a note of inclusivity to all kids, with an all-inclusive playground in its vicinity. This way, kids with special needs won’t have to worry about entertaining themselves. Inclusive playgrounds are also in the works for other areas too, and this includes the parks at Pasir Ris, West Coast, East Coast and Bishan – Ang Mo Kio.
As far as nature is concerned, you’ll love the fact that you can check out way more than a hundred species of fauna and flora in Admiralty Park – keep a lookout for monkeys as they play around in their enclosed space, and don’t forget to check out the dragonflies that buzz you by.
If butterflies are what you seek, trek over to the secondary forest which has an array of the beautiful insects as well as a variety of birds to watch, too.
Feel like taking a walk? Make use of the hiking trail that gives you a glimpse into a couple of other places. For one, you’ll be able to check out the Hedgehog Rattan, a very rare climber in the country, as well as the Putat Kampung tree. Although the nature space is not opened yet, it sounds interesting enough to spike your interest, right?
Sigh, now I feel like going on a slide ride. No need to worry about queue also leh, got 26 slides to pick from!
And it’s not in Yishun #sorrynotsorry
