If you came across a novel titled Meow by an author named M.E. Owmeow, you’d assume that it wasn’t about the French Revolution or a robot zombie invasion, but about cats.
You’d be right, of course.
Then you check the book’s synopsis and discover that it’s a novel for cats written from the perspective of a cat.
This can only mean that it’s about world domination or tuna.
So you buy a copy, hoping to learn a little more about the creatures that have mystified us for centuries.
How else are you supposed to win the affection of your cat?
But when you get home and crack the book open, you realise it’s a little repetitive.
And by repetitive, I mean it literally uses the same word for the entire book.
Man Buys a Novel for Cats & All the Words in the Book Are ‘Meow’
It sounds like an article from The Onion, but that’s exactly what happened to Malaysian Twitter user @nabilfikran10.
According to his Twitter post, the man bought the book because it was selling at a discounted price.
But he really should have flipped through its pages before buying it.
When he got home, the man discovered that when the synopsis said “written for cats from the perspective of a cat”, it wasn’t kidding.
The esteemed author, M.E. Owmeow, only used the word “Meow” for the entire book.
Sometimes it was capitalised, sometimes letters were repeated, but the message was essentially the same: meow.

Some commenters on the man’s Twitter post helped to translate some passages, and it turned out to be rather beautiful.
Translation (courtesy of AsiaOne):
It’s a dark alley. The sound of scratches and footsteps of four feet, like a melody that fills the night. A kitten is sleeping and dreaming. The old cats are out having a good time. Appreciating their precious nine lives. Ladies and gentlemen locking eyes, Blackpink in your area”.
Very few cats saw that Blackpink twist at the end.
Another man said he showed one excerpt to a cat and it evoked quite a strong emotional response.
Translation: “I showed this to the cat in front of my house and it cried after reading this part, really touched his heart.”
Book Costs $9 On Amazon
Even though this is the kind of book you’d find hidden in the house of a serial killer, it’s actually up for sale on Amazon.
Believe it or not, it’s going for $9.
They say you can’t judge a book by its cover.
Well, they’re wrong. Clearly.
