Student Broke Into School Hall to Steal Bags of Laundry & Look at Female Undergarments ‘Closely’

There must be something in the water at NUS.

Ever since the Monica Baey incident in 2019, every time an article has “NUS” in its headline, it would more often than not be about sexual misconduct.

More and more cases of sexual harassment and abuse have cropped up since the Baey incident, sparking outrage amongst female NUS students and residents.

Recently, a lecturer at NUS was sacked after he was found to have behaved inappropriately with two students under his charge.

Student Broke Into School Hall to Steal Bags of Laundry & Look at Female Undergarments

A 20-year-old man admitted to repeatedly trespassing into a dormitory to steal bags of laundry so he could look at undergarments.

The man, Goh An Soon, committed the offences on five occasions between 19 Dec 2018 and 1 Feb 2019, when he was still a student.

According to CNA, Goh would enter the King Edward VII hall and check washing machines at the dormitory’s launderettes or along corridors for women’s undergarments.

Whenever he saw something he liked, he would take it away with him.

His stolen items include:

  • two bras from a washing machine
  • a laundry bag containing four panties from another washing machine
  • a pair of black shorts, two pairs of panties, a bra and several pairs of socks hung along a common corridor
  • a laundry bag containing a sports bra and underwear
  • a black leather wallet

Why the black leather wallet? Who the heck knows?

Took Them For a Closer Look

Goh seems to either be an aspiring fashion designer or researcher, as he claims he took the items to have a closer look.

“He claimed that he would then take the undergarments to pantry rooms in neighbouring blocks of the campus to look at them up close and that he left the undergarments behind in these rooms thereafter,” the prosecutor said.

Yes, everyone is familiar with the perverts who steal underwear just to inspect them closely.

Caught Acting Suspiciously

On 1 Feb last year at around 6pm, an NUS hall employee noticed Goh acting suspiciously.

He followed Goh and eventually confronted the 20-year-old at a pantry in the dorm.

He was then taken to the administration office, where the campus security investigation officer called the police.

The officer had previously made a call to the police over several instances of undergarment theft at the hall.

On Monday (9 Nov), Goh pled guilty to one charge of dishonest misappropriation of items, as well as another charge of trespassing into King Edward VII Hall on eight occasions.

For misappropriating items, the 20-year-old could be imprisoned for up to two years, fined, or both.

For trespassing, Goh faces up to a year in a jail, a fine of up to S$3,000, or both.

He will return to court for sentencing on 21 Dec.
