Following the PMD Ban (and subsequent revision), there is much hatred towards the ‘black sheep’ of PMD users.
Every day, pedestrians detest how they are put in danger as they speed across pathways and ride dangerously beside larger vehicles.
Conversely, rule-abiding PMD riders hate when they’re lumped in together with errant users and suffer legislative and public punishment, as a result.

Enforcement officials especially hate how PMD riders sometimes speed away, trying to evade capture.
However, are they so bad that they deserve to be kung-fu kicked though?
Errant PMD User Sent Flying
One fateful day, a PMD rider was riding quickly down the road near Bedok Reservoir, alongside cars and motorcycles. He knew that he shouldn’t be doing that, but he did it anyway.
He was later spotted and asked to stop by two enforcement officials.
Sensing the impending doom of a monetary cataclysm (Singapore everything also fine here fine there one), he tried to speed off, throwing caution to the wind.
Everyone here knows what happens when you piss off your mother on a bad day. It turns from scolding and nagging to bringing out the canes (god forbid that I did not get A grades for my primary school math tests).
Well, turns out that it was the wrong day to anger the enforcement official. That was the day a Certis Cisco officer decided to channel the spirit of Bruce Lee and Kung Fu Panda; there was no way he was letting the rider off.
Instead of trying to stop the rider or just copying down the details of his appearance, he gave the rider a high kick, kicking the rider off his bike and flinging him several meters to the side of the road.

Officer Suspended
Jokes aside, that was a very dangerous and inappropriate act, and the rider and officer could have been seriously injured.
According to Certis,
“The rider suffered abrasions on his right elbow and right knee and received medical attention from paramedics at the scene.
“The officer was also injured, and was treated at the site before heading to the hospital for further medical assistance.”

Luckily, both of them suffered only minor injuries.
Certis didn’t approve of the officer’s actions, though, and Mr Bruce Lee has been suspended from his duties.
“Certis is contracted by LTA to carry out enforcement. LTA does not condone any behaviour that deviates from the established rules of engagement”, an LTA spokesperson said.
Established enforcement protocols require officers to take down notes about the appearance of the escaping PMD user as accurately as possible and file a report with the LTA, not give them a flying kick.
“Certis has a zero-tolerance policy against rash acts and will not hesitate to take stern action against officers who are found to be in breach of protocol,” the company said.

To all the speeding PMD riders out there, try not to force enforcement officers into giving you high kicks, yeah. Let us share our common space responsibly.
And to all the enforcement officers out there, please do not abuse your position of power. Follow protocol, not Bruce Lee.
