Have you ever eaten a cake in a can?
The unique Japanese vending machine cakes will be coming to Singapore from 16 September, with cakes air-flown from Japan. With its super aesthetic transparent can design, cakes really don’t get more IG-worthy than this.
Okashi Gaku’s Fuwa Cans Flying to Suntec City
These viral cakes in a can are called Fuwa Cans, and are from Japanese patisserie Okashi Gaku. The vending machines were introduced in Japan in 2021 and went viral due to how pretty and tasty the cakes are.
Singapore’s very first Okashi Gaku vending machine will be on level three of Suntec City’s north wing, right next to the entrance of Eat at Seven.
The cakes are packed in transparent cans, so you can see the cake in all its glory. You can just eat the cake from the can with a tall spoon, which makes it a convenient treat.
Also, fun fact: these cakes are in soda cans, or beer cans, as a reference to Japan’s culture of late-night drinking. Instead of grabbing a beer, why not grab some cake?
These canned cakes will reportedly be air-flown from Japan weekly, so you’ll taste 100% of that Japanese goodness even in Singapore. The machines will be operating 24/7, and more machines are expected to appear islandwide by December.
Original Flavours and Singapore Exclusives
When we think of canned cakes, the OG Strawberry Shortcake Can definitely comes to mind. At a price of $11.80, the Hokkaido strawberries are the perfect pairing to the fluffy vanilla sponge cake and whipped cream.
Signature flavours like Mango Passionfruit ($9.80) and Strawberry ($9.80) will also be available. But what’s more exciting are the Singapore-exclusive flavours: Matcha ($8.80), Mango Chocolate ($9.80), and Tiramisu ($9.80). Their Caramel Custard Pudding ($5.80) will also be available in metal cans.
