Star Wars happened in a galaxy far far away, but that did not stop people from trying to recreate the set here in Singapore.
Funding Societies, a local crowdsourced fund raising website for SMEs recently produced a Star Wars themed video as part of its awareness campaign.
Filmed at various locations in Singapore, the story starts off with the female character (dressed as Rey) who sets off on a long journey. BB-8 bids her farewell at the jetty where she boards a ferry and sets off on her mission.
After alighting at her destination, she treks across land, climbs over rocks and sandy slopes to arrive at what appears to be the top of a hill. Overlooking the waterfront, a lone man clothed in a brown robe stood at the end of the path.
As he turned around, he was revealed to be an elderly man (most likely Luke Skywalker). Now here comes the twist after all the seriousness of the plot: after explaining that she has come a long way to ask him one thing, the man replies in hokkien “ni mang simi (what do you want to ask)?”
Turns out that the female protagonist wanted to know how to invest and earn higher returns. The elderly man goes on to explain in hokkien that the way to do that was to invest in business loans at Funding Societies. When she remained silent and appeared puzzled, the old man added that the funding was the real deal and is “tok gong (very good)”.
A cut scene showing the iconic Star Wars animated galaxy background played next to show a promotional message.
The story then switches back to the old man who told the lady to email him the next time instead of traveling all the way out. We think that is definitely a smarter way.
The Secret is RevealedA long time ago…on an island far far away…The secrets are revealed.
