The COVID-19 pandemic has proved absolutely abhorrent. Apart from dashing the dreams of many F&B owners, it has also destroyed an entire faction:
The travel enthusiast group.
But it seems that our cravings can be, for some part at least, satiated with Old Chang Kee’s latest promotion.
Old Chang Kee Launching Limited-Edition Mala Chicken in a Cup for $3.90
So lest you’re unaware, 辣子鸡, also known as Spicy Chicken in English, is a nationwide delicacy from China. Originating from Chongqing city, it’s a stir-fried Sichuan dish that has a distinct Mala flavour that many spice lovers enjoy.
“Yeah, so?” you wonder.
Well, guess what. This China delicacy is coming to Old Chang Kee!
“Wow!”
Apparently, Old Chang Kee’s version will compose of marinated boneless chicken meat, Ma Jiao peppercorn, chili bean sauce, ginger, dried chili, white sesame seeds and peanuts. Stir-fried and subsequently served in a cup, the delicacy will be retailing for just $3.90 at any Old Chang Kee outlet in Singapore!
“Fantastic… but what’s the catch?”
Well, unfortunately, this will be a limited time venture. Indeed, the delicacy will be available for just one month: from 1 to 31 October 2021.
Served At Curry Times As Well
It won’t just be Old Chang Kee either, as its sub-brands Curry Times, Coffee House and O’My Kampong will all be launching the fiery delicacy. There will, however, be a twist.
Curry Times, for instance, will be serving the fiery spicy chicken with rice. It will cost S$10.90++, and will come with Honey Lemon with Aloe Vera.
Meanwhile, all three sub-brands will retail a Nasi Lemak version of the dish. It’s set to cost S$11.90++, and will come with Honey Lemon with Aloe Vera.
Like Old Chang Kee’s rendition, however, the venture will only last from 1 to 31 October.
There’s also a Blue Pea Nasi Lemak version that will start from S$8.80++. It will, however, only be available for catering.
Don’t say bojio ah!
