…KFC came up with some good ol’ salted egg chicken and named it after their favourite currency (review here)…
Burger King can’t think up of anything new so they dug out their old burger pals Rendang and Hainanese from 17 July onwards.
Of course, we’re not complaining, because new food is new food, no matter how it… tastes. And seeing how life is so dreary, even Zinger is sufficient to spice it up… oh wait I meant the Ha Ha Cheong Gai burger.
But it seems that the competition has not yet ended, as another heavyweight in the local food industry has forced its way into the ring.
Meet Old Chang Kee, the curry puff maestro that seems to have sprung a pair of claws.
Chilli Crab
Singapore’s hot snacks homegrown brand Old Chang Kee, together with its family of brands (Curry Times, Coffee House @ Rex, Bun Times, Dip N Go) will be launching the Chilli Crab Fest from 15 Jul – 31 Aug 2018, as part of its thematic celebration for the Nation’s Birthday with the iconic Singapore Chilli Crab dishes.

In line with Old Chang Kee’s successful innovations in creating the popular Singapore dishes in a puff i.e. Nasi Lemak Chicken ‘O, Rendang Chicken ‘O, Satay Chicken ‘O etc, the newest seasonal favourite will be the Chilli Crab ‘O ($2.20) for this National Day.

Chilli Crab Nasi Lemak
At Old Chang Kee’s newest Nasi Lemak store at Kallang Wave, customers can leisurely tuck
into an array of authentic Nasi Lemak with choice of over 30 sides to add on for those who
would like to have a more sumptuous meal.
Counting amongst its newest and exciting offerings is the Chilli Soft Shell Crab Nasi Lemak
($11.90) – Juicy soft shell crab in special chilli crab sauce, paired with aromatic coconut
rice, with sides of ikan bilis, peanut, fried egg, cucumber and sambal chilli.
There would be Sambal Petai ($3.90), Sambal Sotong ($3.90) or Curry Vegetables ($3.90) as dishes, great for sharing or enjoy on its own.
