This coming Friday (at least in Singapore and Malaysia), it will be the end of the world for quite a number of fanboys and fangirls: Descendants of the Sun will air its last episode, and the adventures of Captain Yoo romance between Yoo Si-jin and Kang Mo Yeon will come to a conclusion.
But let’s face it: while the possibility of a second season is extremely slim, it shouldn’t be the end of the hype, given how popular this is.
With over 2 billion views of the popular series streamed in China (and just for your info, the population of China is at just 1.3 billion), it won’t come as a surprise that China will come out with something—be it a reboot, or a movie.
And movie it will be.
According to Asia Times, which got the news from Yibada, the Descendants of the Sun distributor has found a China partner to reproduce the drama into a movie. Not much details are available though, except that it is a possibility.
And that’s good enough, no? Well, here’s something even more interesting.
According to Yibada, the producer of the show has stated that they indeed are in talks with several companies on remake and optional publication rights. After that, they do admit that they are keeping their options open, and one of them being a movie—in Korean, maybe?
Does that mean we’ll see two movies: one Chinese version and a Korean version?
If anything, here’s the good news for those who are thinking of crying for weeks after the end of Descendants of the Sun: it won’t be the last of Captain Yoo even if he dies.
Over in TikTok, there’s a drama involving property agents that’s caused by us. Here’s what happened:
