Twitter is the platform where things go viral first before someone reposts them Facebook.

And this was the only instance where I wished I wasn’t a Twitter user.

Oreos? Great.

Oreos and milk? Fantastic.

Oreos, milk and rice? Boiled together?

The Fateful Tweet

The original thread the tweet was in is completely mind-boggling because of its context. The beginning of the thread was a guy singing in a Malaysian accent, and the replies slowly got… well, weird.

One user replied with an Oreo filled with rice and meat.

The next user replied to that tweet with an Oreo dipped in Red Bull.

And then, the star of this article replied with his Oreo rice.

He was even “kind” enough to post photos of the cooking process. Gordon Ramsay who?

Tweet Went Viral

The tweet currently has nearly 5,000 retweets and nearly 10,000 likes. Are these people agreeing with him?

When Thanos snapped his finger, I really thought he’d get rid of weird people. He took away Peter Parker but not the person who made Oreo rice go viral. He idiot or what?

Another user agreed to this concoction and posted a reply to the tweet with their own Oreo rice.

The Public Disagrees

Now, I don’t discriminate against food because I’m a foodie. But Oreos, milk and rice served hot and mixed together doesn’t sound very appealing to me.

Maybe if I had a taste of this, I would change my mind. Until then, it’s a no from me.

Like me, the majority of users also feel the same way. Many of the replies were disapproving and were expressed in memes. Twitter tradition, if you may.

Exhibit A.

Exhibit B.

It even reached various websites discussing this dish. Sites like Metro, a UK site, even reported about it.

Oreo Rice Exists

If you’re doubtful about the existence of Oreo rice, I hate to burst your bubble but it does, indeed, exist.

If you search Oreo rice on YouTube, there are actually recipes for it. Most of them were inspired by the recipe which was posted in a video by Buzzfeed on Facebook in 2015. Buzzfeed’s recipe is the most prominent recipe up to date.

The main ingredients are Oreos, rice and milk. After it’s been boiled and cooked, it is then stirred together to form dark, black rice. No, it’s not burnt.

Which honestly looks more appealing than the original tweet’s version because it looks more mixed.

They even include a testimonial where someone says it’s good after tasting it.

There’s actually nothing wrong with the concept of this dish because rice pudding is an actual dish.

This is a modified version of rice pudding since rice pudding is rice and milk mixed together with other ingredients such as raisins or cinnamon.

Maybe the Oreo adds another level of flavour to this simple dessert?

The Pioneer Of This Dish

If you want an in-depth description of how it supposedly tastes like, soranews24 says “The taste and texture of Oreo Rice can be likened to a sweet, chocolaty dessert risotto.”

Back in 2012, soranews24 were actually the pioneers in Oreo rice. They created it to celebrate Oreo’s 100th birthday by merging Japan’s favourite food with America’s favourite cookie.

Hence, Oreo rice was born.

Apparently, it tasted so good that their whole office finished it, and turned skeptics into believers.

Well, definitely not in the Goody Feed office.
