Now this is what I call savage. And why you should never, ever leave your children alone at home because you’ll never be able to expect what they are up to.
In Qing Dao, China, a 5-year-old toddler tore up S$10,000 worth of S$100 notes just as his father went out to buy some groceries. The money was hidden under a bed, and the kid managed to dig it out and shred it into teeny tiny pieces.
Both parents were appalled when they returned home on 20 May to find their life savings torn into bits. The father, Mr Gao, took the notes to the bank right after the incident, but the bank refused to cash them in or exchange them unless the family pieces the notes back together.
As expected, the workers at the bank told him he would have to stick all of the pieces together before they could give him fresh cash.
They had to piece the notes back together
Mr Gao has since been piecing the notes back together but the torn pieces are too small for him to place them back together as a whole note. He has been at it for two days, but, to no avail.
I’m not sure about him, but if it were me, I’d gladly spend sleepless days and nights piecing the notes up together and get the child to do it together with me. Firstly, it’s S$10,000 we are talking about here. And it’s obviously not easy to save that kind of money.
Secondly, since the 5-year-old loves tearing things up so much, he should learn the importance of piecing them together on his own rather than wait for his parents to help him ‘clean his backside’ when shit gets real.
Granted, the child might still be ‘young’, but it’s never to early to start teaching them the rights and wrongs and disciplining them. Not teaching them simply because they are ‘too young’ is just a lame excuse.
And the parents ought to invest in a safety deposit and keep their money in there from now on.
