Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you would have known about this Facebook post that has taken Singapore by storm.
So, here’s the context: A Facebook user by the name of Jerald Lie wrote a lengthy post, thanking his new wife for loving him. Well, the message is good, but it’s the way the message is conveyed that made it viral; or in other words, these sentences:
“…She is a submissive wife…”
“…She is very willing is submit to me….”
“…So when my wife submits to be, all the more I will listen to her…”
Any feminist already preparing rotten eggs? Well, at least there’re already some in the comment sections.
But here’s the thing: firstly, who are we to judge? Secondly, would it attract so much attention if the roles are reversed? Most likely, a “submissive” husband would be viewed as a loving husband. Thirdly…why are we so easily offended?
Whatever it is, the fact remains: the husband is happy to find a good wife. The wife is willing to be a good wife. End of story.
