If there are three things Singaporeans are good at, that’ll be complaining, complaining and complaining.
…I’m pretty sure some of you are complaining right now that I listed complaining 3 times as three things.
Moving away from the heavy-hearted news, we have something interesting for you guys today.
According to Shin Min Daily News, one of their readers, Miss Li, told them(complaining) about the expensive sugar-cane juice being sold at Pasir Panjang Food Centre.
…Yeah, today is a slow news day. Please bear with us.
Anyway, how much will you guys pay for a cup of sugar-cane juice? $2 maybe? Well, how about $4?
Well, I’ll be damned! It’s been awhile since I’ve had any sugar-cane juice, but isn’t $1.50 to $2 the standard price for sugar-cane juice?
According to the reporters of Shin Min Daily News who made a trip to the food centre, the regular price for a small cup of sugar-cane juice is $2. The $4 price tag belongs to a big cup of sugar-cane juice without ice.
The stall owner says that he’s been in this business for more than 10 years. The price of his sugar-cane juice will most likely remain as is.
“Our sugar-cane juice is freshly squeezed, and we don’t mix water into the juice. The big cup has enough for two people to go around. Besides, we have a lot of helpers for the stall and the rental here is expensive. Hence, the price will be a little higher than normal.
After confirming with my parents, I’m pretty certain the drink stall close to my house is selling sugar-cane juice at $2.50 per cup. And that’s the price for the big cup.
Now, I’m not sure about you guys, but $4 is a little too expensive for me. Granted, it’s for a cup of iceless sugarcane-juice, but I think I would rather spend that money on food!
