Tan Sung Meng, Ang Sim Poh and Pang Pei Pei smashed up Heng Long Teochew Porridge on 27 May 2017.

When a waitress, Chia Ai Cheng, presented them with a $28 bill, she was unable to provide a breakdown of the bill.

Pang got agitated and threw a bowl of porridge into the stall. Ang and Tan joined in and started trashing the stall as well.

Damages from the one-minute long tantrum amounted to almost $10,300.

Legend has it that they had drunk before going to the porridge stall.

NUS Student Fell To Her Death At Sheares Hall After Locking Herself Out

Seen those comedies where people locked themselves out of the room and tries all sort of ways to get back in?

It might be funny on screen, but in real life, it can get serious pretty fast.

Image: straitstimes.com

On 3 May, it was reported that 18-year-old South Korean national Jung Haelin fell from the seventh floor of Sheares Hall in NUS back in Oct 2017.

She was trying to get into her room after accidentally locking herself out of her room.

The doors at Sheares Hall automatically locks when it closes.

CCTV footage showed Jung knocking on other doors, but the occupants did not respond.

In the end, she went into the pantry and likely tried to leap to her room’s ledge. Unfortunately, she missed her footing and fell.

Two NUS students found her motionless body on the ground and alerted the Sheares Hall manager as well as the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

After the incident, students at Sheares Hall now have to lock the door themselves.

In addition, the school said that at any point in time, one of the five resident fellows or hall manager will be on duty.

The resident fellow’s flat is on the first floor of every hall, which doesn’t require an access pass to enter.

Some of the apps include:

  • Secured messaging
  • SPF knowledge management database
  • Location of private CCTV cameras
  • Investigation diary
  • Match-It app that helps identify student’s uniforms

But that’s not the juicy part.

Meet your (possible) future patrol officers

The S5 Pan-Tilt-Zoom Patrol Robot can patrol a street by itself and transmit video feeds to a command post.

Plus a Police “customer service officer”

This robot is aptly named Matar. Its touchscreen panel allows it to interact with the public and it’s able to navigate by itself both indoors and outdoors.

Lucky Man Wins $18.5K After Guessing 987FM’s Secret Sound

If you’re an avid listener of radio like me, you’d know that 987fm was running a secret sound contest.

And it’s been driving every listener crazy.

With the prize money starting at $5,000, it increases by $500 every single day if no one guesses it correctly to $18,500.

And finally, on 3 May, a man called Mr Lee won the pot of money.

The answer to the sound that everyone’s really curious about? It’s the sound of adjusting a computer monitor’s height (that one got sound one meh?!).

Image: channelnewsasai.com

Netizens, of course, were stumped at how anybody could guess that.

Some suspect it’s an inside job.

But here’s an interesting thing. This Mr Lee is an I.T engineer.

Damn, and here I was thinking cutting paper at Art Friend was the right answer.
