PHV Driver So Obsessed with Phone, She Just Ran Red Light #LikeABoss

If you’re a fan of car-sharing services, you’ll notice that most drivers place their phones on a phone stand in front of their steering wheel.

This handy tool helps to keep the screen on and within sight of the driver while they’re driving.

So for those who are driving while on the lookout for ‘new business’, this is a must-have.

In a video uploaded by ROADS.sg Facebook Page yesterday (Feb 20), a Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) driver violated the law, thanks (not really) to the convenience of a phone stand.

This incident took place along Yishun Ave 2 yesterday afternoon.

The female driver was busy on her phone and did not even bother to check the traffic light before driving off.

My guess is that she might be checking if there are any new passengers around the area, but I could be wrong.

From the video, I would assume that she mistook the neighbouring car’s advancement as an indication of the light turning green.

Not a wise move, ma’am.

Although it is a common ‘phenomenon’ at bus stops and pedestrian crossings, this should not apply to cars as well!

I mean, hello?

Cars kill?

ROADS.sg Facebook Page has also kindly warned about the consequences of using a mobile device while driving:

A first-timer convicted of using a mobile device while driving shall be liable to a fine of up to S$1,000, or a jail term not more than 6 months, or both.

The offender may also be disqualified from driving.

The offender’s mobile device and SIM card may be seized to facilitate the investigation.

These may be forfeited by the court upon conviction.

Please practice safe driving and not put innocent lives at stake!
