We all get angry sometimes.

Maybe you missed the last bus home, someone copied off your homework or forgot to ask the auntie for no tow ghey in your laksa.

Sometimes you just got to grin and bear it.

But have you ever gotten so angry at someone that you not only hit them but hit yourself?

No, this isn’t a sitcom but real life.

Scuffle With Lorry Driver

I promise this will all make sense in a bit.

On 9 June, Chua Chee Beng, 48, was sentenced to eight weeks’ jail, according to Today Online.

He reportedly got into an argument with a lorry driver on 28 November last year.

Chua even punched him in the head and neck, which resulted in a S$668.25 compensation for medical fees and loss in income.

This was where it got weird too. During the argument, Chua punched himself in the face and abdomen, allegedly about to tell the cops the driver had hurt him instead.

What did this get him?

Two charges of causing alarm and giving false information to a public servant taken into consideration during sentencing.

This is on top of pleading guilty to causing harm to the driver, of course.

Good going.

The Incident

The lorry driver actually didn’t even cause a scene.

At 4.20 pm on the day of the incident, Chua actually cut into his lane along the Central Expressway (CTE) towards Tuas.

Chua didn’t slow down despite being horned at and the two eventually got off and argued, the former tampering with his own car camera footage.

After both took pictures of each other, Chua then began to assault him all the way to 4.40pm even though the driver did not fight back.

Luckily, the police came to break it up and arrested Chua.

Unfortunately for the driver, he was so injured he had to be sent to the National University Hospital for treatment.

He even had to return go back sometime later because his knee pain worsened and he was diagnosed with a likely knee sprain.

Sentencing

I’m sure it must have been cathartic for the driver to see Chua get justice served.

In fact, this wasn’t his first crime.

Way back when in 1991, Chua got sentenced to probation for aggravated robbery. He was only 20 and wasn’t tried as an adult.

But then he had the stones to do it again in 2007, this time getting jailed for three years and 12 strokes of the cane.

Chua apologised in court and admitted to being rash in his actions. He also will only start serving on Friday since his mom had a stroke upon hearing about the incident.
