While people in Las Vegas are putting cowboy hats’ on pigeons, someone in Singapore is putting blowdarts into pigeons’ bodies.

A member of the public had found a rock pigeon with a dart in its body at 864 Jurong West Street 81 and alerted ACRES on 28 Feb.

When ACRES arrived at the scene, they found another pigeon with two similar darts in its body, before flying away.

As for why people would do this? No one knows.

But what we do know now, is that in Aug 2020, someone in Singapore is still doing that.

Someone is Still Shooting Pigeons with Darts in Jurong West

On 14 Aug 2020, the Animal Concern Research & Education Society Singapore (ACRES) took to their Facebook page to share this shocking announcement.

They said that pigeons in Jurong West are still getting shot at with darts and it’s happening in the same area as the previous case back in Mar 2020.

They had received two more reports regarding pigeons found with darts in their bodies at 864 Jurong West St 81 over the past week.

“This also means that this act of cruelty and violence is still ongoing.”

ACRES Appealing For More Information

A report was filed with both the Singapore Police Force and the National Parks Board (NParks) since Mar 2020.

Unfortunately, NParks had reached out to ACRES to inform them that all possible leads have been followed and they’ll be putting the investigation on hold.

They will allegedly only resume the investigations if more clues or leads turn up.

Which is why ACRES is now appealing for people to keep a lookout and inform them if they’ve seen anything.

ACRES added that they’ve analysed the darts and identified them as blowgun darts, approximately 10cm in length.

The suspect that an individual (or a few of them) got access to a blowpipe or a dart gun around the area and started using it on birds.

For anyone who has new information on the case, ACRES says you can send them in via email to [email protected].
