10 Killed in Private Plane Crash at Selangor; Politician Among Those Killed

On Thursday (17 Aug), a private plane operated by Jet Valet, an exclusive private flight service, crashed into a road in Selangor, Malaysia.

Aboard the plane, registered under the number N28JV, were two flight crew members and six passengers, one of which was Malaysian politician Johari Harun.

Unfortunately, all eight on the plane lost their lives in the crash. Yet, they were not the only casualties.

Two motorists, who happened to be on the road where the Beechcraft 390 crashed, also lost their lives after being hit by the crashing plane.

One was a car driver, while the other was a motorcyclist.

No Distress Call Made by Plane

But how exactly did this plane crash happen? Everything seemed to be going well even minutes before the crash.

The plane had taken off from Langkawi at 2:08 pm and was meant to touchdown at Subang Airport. Minutes before the crash, the plane was given clearance by Subang Airport’s air traffic control to land.

Specifically, at 2:47 pm, the plane contacted air traffic control. A minute later, landing clearance was given.

In a drastic turn of events, the plane lost contact with air traffic control two minutes before touchdown.

Essentially, air traffic control was “ghosted” by the plane—the next thing they knew, at 2:51 pm, air traffic control received news that the plane had crashed on a road near Guthrie Highway in the Elmina Valley residential area.

The impact was devastating; in videos uploaded by witnesses online, one could see the road being set ablaze by the crashing plane. Fortunately, the fire was put out within ten minutes.

Perhaps the strangest part of the plane crash was that the plane made no distress call—the case is starting to smell like it could be part of Buzzfeed Unsolved.

Not First Time Plane Crashed at Elmina Estate

It is without a doubt that this is a tragic incident. Yet, it’s far from the first in the Elmina Valley area.

Conspiracy theorists, listen up now.

In September 1977, a similar incident occurred around the area—a Japan Airlines plane headed for Subang from Hong Kong crashed at Elmina Estate.
