As we’ve seen with the Raeesah Khan saga and the case involving the elderly woman in Yishun, the police take accusations of mistreatment seriously.
So, if you’re going to accuse them of something—especially something serious—be prepared to substantiate your claims.
Once again, the allegation was levelled at the police via a post on Instagram, and once again, netizens claimed that officers had manhandled a woman.
IG Post Accused Police Officers Of Mishandling Woman at AMK Hub
The hoo haa started with an Instagram post on the @robinhoot.sg page on Wednesday (22 Dec).
In the video, a woman can be seen surrounded by four officers, saying “Someone help me” repeatedly.
“We’re here to help you,” one of the officers responds.
The video, which seems to have been filmed at the Ang Mo Kio bus interchange, has since been taken down from @robinhoot.sg’s page.
SPF Responds
According to the police, the post had alleged or at insinuated that the officers had manhandled the woman.
“These allegations are categorically untrue,” the police said in a Facebook post yesterday (23 Dec).
The police said that on 22 Dec, they were called to respond to an incident at Ang Mo Kio Hub where a 55-year-old woman had repeatedly refused to put on a mask in a public place.
“Upon arrival, the officers were informed that the woman had allegedly refused to wear a mask when she was in the supermarket. Despite repeated reminders by the supermarket staff, the woman continued to refuse to wear a mask and was purportedly shouting in the supermarket,” the post said.
The woman was then spotted at the AMK bus interchange and advised to wear a mask repeatedly.
But, of course, she refused.
The police said the woman was also hostile towards them, refused a mask when offered one by an officer, and started shouting loudly and attempted to walk away.
Considering her to be a risk to herself and the public, officers arrested the woman and had to bring her to the ground as she was resisting the arrest, and “appeared to want to sit down”.
The woman was later referred to the Institute of Mental Health for assessment, the police said.

Compliance with SMMs Key to Safeguarding Health & Safety
The police said in its post that strict compliance with Safe Management Measures (SMMs), including wearing a mask in public places, is key to safeguarding the health and safety of the public, especially with the emergence of the Omicron variant.
“The police would also like to urge members of the public to be responsible when posting or sharing any information online, and not spread unverified information or misrepresentations on any incident,” it said.
It added that it takes a serious view of such malicious and false allegations, and that the authorities are looking into the circulation of the falsehood.
Remember that when it comes to online posts, you should always take them with a huge bowl of salt.
