While wedding bells have been sounding in the air for local actress Rebecca Lim for the past few months since she announced her engagement, it’s for real now: She is officially married.
Lim held her wedding with Matthew Webster, a British-Singaporean Chinese man, just yesterday (27 November) at The Ritz-Carlton, with 60 tables set up for her wedding.
And just a day after her wedding, which had over 600 attendees, she sat down for an interview with zaobao.sg today (28 November) afternoon, where she revealed that she had already held her wedding the day before.
When speaking to zaobao.sg, she excitedly recalled how she thought her wedding day was “perfect” when she recounted it over supper last night with her family. Additionally, issues that she had worried about, such as the ceremony going overtime and whether her relatives would feel “at home,” did not end up being issues at all.
Did Not Reveal Wedding Date, but Did Not “Hide” it Either
Before her announcement today, Lim did not officially reveal her wedding date to the public and shared that she had asked her guests to refrain from posting any images taken during the wedding on social media until the following day as she hoped that her guests could enjoy the wedding to the fullest.
However, she noted that she did not “intentionally” try to hide her wedding date and acknowledged that it was inevitable that news about her wedding date might spread due to a large number of guests.
Prior to her wedding, Lim was also relatively low-key about her engagement and only shared a photo of her fiance’s back at first when she first got engaged.
Left Touched by Friends and Family During the Wedding
She also took the opportunity to thank all her guests for respecting her wishes and shared that many moments during her wedding, such as her brother and sister’s speech about their family childhood, left her touched.
Additionally, she commented that she witnessed many of her friends and family being genuinely happy for her and quietening down to hear her siblings’ speech, which also touched her greatly.
Regarding how touched she felt, Lim added that she had actually used a pocket in her bridal gown to store her tissues and that she cried twice during the day: Once during the ceremony during the afternoon and another time when she thanked her parents during the wedding dinner.
As for her husband, he teared up upon seeing Lim for the first time during their big day.
Lim Would Be Staying at Her Husband’s House Temporarily
Regarding the duo’s plans post-marriage, Lim also revealed that she would be staying at her husband’s house for the time being as their new house is being renovated.
On top of that, with her busy schedule and wedding preparations, she predicts that the couple may only be able to move into their new home in the middle of next year as they have not had much time to prioritise the renovation works in recent months.
As for their honeymoon, Lim explained that they will be postponing it for now as her husband, who is the assistant vice-president of corporate branding at PSA Singapore, will be a groomsman for one of his good friend’s wedding. Apart from that, she also revealed that her husband’s busy work schedule also resulted in them being unable to plan their honeymoon for now.
On the other hand, with regards to having children, a topic which many have been “concerned” about, Lim laughed as she recalled how fellow actress Jin Yinji has already reminded her to drink more seaweed soup and that it might be a secret Korean recipe of sorts to boost fertility.
But for herself, Lim stated that she wishes for a child soon as well. In particular, she hopes she will have a child born in the year of the rabbit (next year) but will let nature take its course and not put too much pressure on herself.
