Our parents are an indispensable part in our lives—they’re here for us, every step of the way. Growing up, they’re the ones we look up to and learn from.
Like many of us, local actress Rebecca Lim considered her father a superhero—she referred to him as her “superhero Daddy” in an Instagram post revealing his passing.

“He had the biggest heart. He cared for everyone deeply and loved generously,” she wrote in her post, her love and admiration for her father apparent.
Her father, Mr Larry Lim, passed away on 22 May. His death was revealed in an Instagram post by her family’s bakery on 28 May. Her father had been the one who inspired their bakery, after all.
In her own Instagram post, Rebecca revealed that her father had survived cancer twice, as well as other “major health issues”. Still, he pressed on—Rebecca said that he “never once complained”, despite everything that he’d faced.
She also disclosed that her father had unfortunately slipped in a coma seven years ago, after experiencing two major strokes, adding that her family had been “missing Daddy for seven years”.
Thanking the healthcare workers that took care of her father through this period, she expressed gratitude for their compassion and kindness.
Ending the post, she listed the things about her father that her family would miss, like his laughter, advice, and of course, his love.
“Till we meet again,” she wrote in a closing remark. “I love you Daddy.”
Her post, which featured photos of her father and her family through the years, and since garnered more than 28,000 likes, with netizens and fellow celebrities expressing their condolences.
Her Father’s Legacy
Rebecca and her family run a family bakery, The Lims’ Kitchen.
Her father’s passing was announced on that Instagram account, where it was revealed that he had inspired the bakery business.

“His love for food, family, and community ignited our passion for feeding others,” they wrote.
In light of his passing, their family’s bakery business will close for a short period following 3 June, and will reopen in mid-June.
According to Shin Min Daily News, Rebecca’s father was cremated on 25 May at Mandai Crematorium.
The 36-year-old actress loved her father so much that she had even spoken about him at her wedding last year, when she and her husband, Matthew Webster, thanked their family and friends.
Then, she had called her father her “number one hero”, true to her words today.
