This all happened on a beautiful Friday afternoon.
I was making pompous water by dipping leaves of dead plants into boiling water when a mysterious ball flew over my head, hit the coffee machine and rolled along the edges of the bar counter into the trash bin beside the refrigerator.
I twisted my head to one side, only to see my editor with a smug on his face.
(Closest thing I can find that looks like him)
“This,” he commented, even though I want nothing to do with this conversation, “is the powderful skill you’ll get after years of playing paper toss.”
“Paper toss?” I asked, not knowing that this would be the question which would lead to my eventual demise. “What the heck is that?”
……
“So, Paper Toss is a grandfather-level smartphone game, released back in June of 2009. Back in its prime, Paper Toss was the definition of cool. You get to show off your paper throwing skills in front of girls and they will all swoon over you!” said my editor, while forcing me to add this portion to the article.
Anyway, while Paper Toss might be a distant memory to some, it’s actually still very much alive right now! You can still download the game from the Google Play Store and iOS App Store!
In fact, the latest review for the game was on 24 Jan 2018!
With over 50 million downloads, it must at least be an interesting game, right?
Actually, no. It’s not. It’s a boring game (at least, compared to now).
You toss paper into a trash bin. And that’s about it.
But I guess that’s precisely the charm of it. It’s something you can keep doing to pass your time. It’s strangely…addictive. Even in 2018.
Oh no.
I. CAN’T. STOPPPPPP.
(I have to snap out of it, I’m still at work!)
…Well, umm, for fans who would like to play the game for old times’ sake, you can consider trying out Paper Toss Boss!
It’s just like the good ol’ Paper Toss, except you can now toss all sorts of things!
From a gigantic watermelon…
to a…
umm, hand grenade?!
…Must be really satisfying for some people to be able to throw a grenade at their boss though (Heheh).
The company behind Paper Toss, Backflip Studios, sold 70% of their stake in the company to Hasbro for $112 million in cash! So you don’t have to worry about your favourite game disappearing anytime soon!
Isn’t it amazing how you can be worth millions of dollars just by developing a game about tossing paper into a trash bin, huh?
Now that I’m done with this article, time to play some Paper Toss before my boss comes into office.
So, to conclude, no, Paper Toss isn’t dead. Just like your Neopet – starving, but not dead.
