Do you remember Initial D? I’m sure you do. It was, after all, one of the best movies of all time. Hands down. This movie will definitely make you recall the days when you thought Jay Chou in his baggy pants was so darn cool. Anne Suzuki, that super hot girl who played his girlfriend, was also the perfect girl.
Lest you’ve forgotten how she looks like, here’s an image of Jay and her (Jay never ages, does he?):
Initial D, for those who need a recap, is about how a young bean curd delivery boy (portrayed by Jay Chou) learn the skills of drifting as he routinely delivers bean curd to the peak of the mountain.
The mountain (and also, the movie) is set in Japan, and Jay Chou could manoeuvre his delivery van along 5 hairpin corners using the gutter technique.
The film showed his transformation from a humble delivery man into a toge racer. A toge racer is one that expertly manoeuvres his car in the narrow, winding roads of the mountains.
Anne Suzuki, The Girl Whom We All Love in the Movie
Anne Suzuki, a Japanese actress, then aged 17 was acting as Jay Chou’s girlfriend. What on earth were we doing at 17 years old? Well definitely not acting alongside the hottest mandopop star.
Before we complain about how life is so damn unfair, sit in a corner and cry, let’s explore a bit of Anne Suzuki, present day.
In the movie, we admired Jay Chou for acting with the then super hot Anne Suzuki. She was featured in the film as Natsuki Mogi, who was with an older man (who drove a Mercedes Benz S-Class. A delivery van is nothing compared to it) at a love hotel for two weeks as he takes on more challenges in learning toge racing.
And that’s it: there’s no sequel to show what happens after that.
After Initial D, Suzuki took up a few more roles as a budding actress. We like to note that she was super hot then – her figure was slimmer, she had a innocent vibe to her that guys will definitely fall for.
Fast forward to present day, a quick google of Anne Suzuki gives images of her as a full-fledge adult, although with a bit of more flesh and weight. Her face is fuller, she has since sported a more sophisticated hairstyle of the typical Japanese shoulder-length curls, and even in pictures, she has an air of maturity – very different from what we know of Anne Suzuki of Initial D.
Well, for those totally in love with the 2005 Anne Suzuki, we have got bad news for you. This actress has put on some weight. Googling her might be a shock to you, so you have been warned.
However, the 32-year-old is still active in showbiz, though not that active.
In other words, if there is indeed a sequel to Initial D, you most probably won’t see her again.
