Singaporeans are very passionate when it comes to local cuisine and if any chefs try to modernise it, they will either go for the jugular or fervently queue for it.
That is why many Singaporeans who live overseas are eternally grateful during their visit to Singapore.
As much as there are plenty of Singaporean dishes available globally, you truly need someone who is a Singaporean or someone who has been in the local food scene to be able to recreate the exact flavours of dishes such as Laksa, Chicken Rice and Nasi Lemak
Singaporeans who live in America, especially in Florida, would be pleased to know that there is a noshery that dishes out Singaporean fare.
Before you start rolling your eyes on its authenticity, it is helmed by someone who is a native of Singapore—Zai Albino.
Selera Singapore
Located in downtown Winter Garden, the restaurant serves up lip-smacking local fare such as…
Mee Soto
Laksa
Chicken Rice
And Prawn Sambal
Prior to opening her restaurant, Zai Albino used to whip up iconic Singaporean dishes which was well-received by her friends and family.
After getting encouragement from her loved ones, she decided to set up shop in downtown Winter Garden.
“Winter Garden just fell into our lap,” said Zai’s husband, Marc in an interview.
“We just really saw the vision and thought it was great. I think it blends into the community really well,” he added.
Netizen’s reaction
After a viral video that spotlighted the restaurant, garnering 97k views and 1.4k shares as of writing time, there was a slew of comments from netizens expressing their opinions (like they always do).
Most netizens were excited and supportive.
But there were some who totally missed the point.
Well, I can’t say much on its taste, but it definitely looks good!
