Ribena Concentrate Products Recalled Due To “Manufacturing Error”
According to Channel News Asia, Japanese beverage company Suntory has withdrawn several batches of Ribena Concentrate products in Malaysia due to a “manufacturing error”.
In a media release issued on Monday, 14 August, the company revealed that a preliminary investigation was conducted and affected products were conjectured to have been exposed to air during the process of bottling.
As a result, the product in some bottles could potentially expire earlier than the specified expiry date.
Suntory has since retracted a few batches of Ribena Concentrate products with specified expiry dates from August 12.
Suntory warns that although not every bottle was affected, should the product looks weird, tastes or smells sourish, or you doubt the quality, you’re advised not to drink it.
The table below shows the withdrawn products.
Note that ready-to-drink items such as Sparkling Ribena, pouch pack, packet drinks and PET bottles and pastilles are not affected by this recall.
Suntory has also temporarily ceased deliveries for all Ribena cordial drinks to its distributors and trading partners.
They gave their assurance that they would work to clear the issue as soon as possible and resume their manufacturing procedure and product deliveries.
The products have been withdrawn in Singapore too
As a precautionary measure, Suntory Beverage & Food Singapore have retracted several batches of four of its concentrate products: Ribena Concentrate Blackcurrant & Strawberry, Ribena Concentrate Blackcurrant & Apple, Ribena Concentrate and Glucose and Ribena Concentrate Blackcurrant.
Consumers who have purchased items from the affected batches may choose to contact Ribena’s customer hotline at 1800-645-9551 or e-mail [email protected].
In the meantime, get some Milo or Nescafe to fill your Ribena Concentrate void.
