River Hongbao 2021
Since 1987, River Hongbao has been one of the main highlights of Chinese New Year.
Previously, it was held on The Float @ Marina Bay. This year, River Hongbao has been moved to Gardens by the Bay.
River Hongbao used to include the amusement park, fireworks and live stage performances. Due to the pandemic, these segments are cancelled.
This does not mean there is nothing to do at River Hongbao this year.
There are still various giant lanterns spread out across Garden by the Bay for you to take selfies with.
Lanterns
River Hongbao 2021 will feature 24 giant lanterns including the 12 zodiacs, a peacock and butterflies.
There will be a floating display at the Dragonfly Lake with spring blossoms and butterflies.
The main focus would be an 18m God of Fortune doing a peace sign beside a golden ox, golden coins and dollar notes.
There will also be a wishing well for donations. All donations will be donated to charity.
These lanterns could be found at the Supertree Grove and The Meadow.
No Live Shows
Due to safety measures, there will not be any live performances this year.
However, you will still able to watch pre-recorded dance and getai performances on-site every night.
These performances will also be live-streamed on the River Hongbao website and Facebook page.
Better than nothing, right?
Safety Measures
Over 100 volunteers, safe distancing ambassadors and uniformed auxiliary police officers are deployed to prevent overcrowding.
Additionally, they ensure visitors follow the safe distancing regulations and safety management measures.
High-touch points will be cleaned several times a day.
