Ever since the emergence of social media, bakers have certainly raised their game.
Images of cakes that look nothing like cakes have been going viral on the Internet, shocking and confusing netizens at the same time.
One famous example was the cake that looked exactly like a Doritos packet:

There’s also one of a giant cockroach, but I won’t be posting that one because I’m assuming you want to be able to eat again.
Even though we’ve seen many of these realistic cakes, these bakers never fail to astound us when a new creation of theirs pops up on our news feed.
Now, one baker has made a cake that doesn’t look like an everyday object nor an insect, but something you’d usually order at the coffee shop with rice.
Baker Made Roast Pork Cake That Looks So Realistic, You’ll Expect A Crunch When Biting Into It
If a baker came up to you and asked if you wanted a cake that looks like roasted pork belly, you’d assume there’s something seriously wrong with him.
But that’s exactly what netizen Herman Huang did.
In a post on Facebook, Huang shared pictures of his latest creation: a cake that looks like slices of roasted pork belly.
First, here’s what an actual roasted pork belly or sio bak looks like:
And here’s Huang’s cake:

Yes, this is actually a cake, but it looks so real that you’d expect a crunch when you bite into it.
You’d also be pleasantly surprised at how sweet this pork is.
It’s so true-to-life that each piece even has those layers of fat sandwiched between the thick lumps of meat.
According to MS News, the pork belly cake is made of tapioca starch, rice flour, taro, coconut milk, salt, sugar, water and food colouring, and 0% pork.
Includes ‘Chilli Sauce’
You can’t have roasted pork belly without a good chilli sauce, though, can you?

This is why Huang included a ‘chilli soy sauce’, made from chocolate sauce and strawberries, as a much-needed accompaniment to his pork cake.
The crafty baker says this would be a great prank to pull on a friend or family member who’s going meatless.
Made the Famous Edible Dishwashing Sponge Cake
You may not be aware of it, but you’ve probably seen another of Huang’s creations before.
Remember this?
Reader: A dish-washing sponge? Are you subtly reminding me to do the dishes?

Not really, dear reader. See, just like the roasted pork belly above, these sponges, too, are slices of cake.
Crafted from a mixture of flour, eggs, sugar, butter, lemon juice and food colouring, these sponges can definitely pass for the real thing.
Huang added some ‘soap foam’ as well, which was made from lemon juice beat with sugar.
Forget a roasted pork belly prank, try shoving one of these sponges in your mouth and watch your whole family drop their jaws in horror before they call the ambulance.
If you still don’t believe that these sponges are actually cakes, here’s a video of an ASMR YouTuber making and eating several of them.
