From Simei to Marina One
It was previously reported in Lianhe Zaobao that Romeo lived in a four-room HDB flat with seven of his family members. He shared a room with his brother since he was young and had little privacy because of it.
Because travelling to Mediacorp studios at One-north from Simei was inconvenient due to the distance, he would stay over at the house of fellow actor and friend, Elvin Ng, instead.
Since his television debut in 2005, Romeo’s first property purchase is the culmination of 15 years of hard work and perseverance, according to 99.co.
In his early days before starting his acting career, it was reported that Romeo did a lot of odd jobs as a teenager including working in McDonald’s and giving out flyers.
There was an interview done with 8days where Romeo recounted the time where he worked as a cable guy to fix Internet and broadband cables.
In one particular job, Romeo was hurt by a comment made by the flat owner when he went to fix her Internet connection.
According to him, after he praised her chair, the woman said, “When you earn more money in the future, you can buy this too.”
Look who has the last laugh now?
