Many brave souls have volunteered their services to the Ukrainian military forces since the Russian invasion.
Some have even defied the laws of their country just to fight for Ukraine, while others have joined despite lacking any military background.
Over in Singapore, it was reported that there were indeed people trying to fight for Ukraine. Watch this to the end and you’d understand:
But one thing remains clear for all who join the volunteer army—their lives are at risk.
Western Governments Will Be Responsible for Deaths of Their Citizens
On Monday, the Russian Ministry of Defence made it clear that Western governments encouraging their citizens to enlist in Ukraine will be responsible for their death.
The ministry vowed to continue the strikes such as the one that destroyed the Yavorov base and show no mercy to mercenaries.
Russian military spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov also claimed that they know “all locations of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine”.
“I want to warn you again—there will be no mercy for the mercenaries, no matter where they are on the territory of Ukraine,” he said in the statement.
While there is no proof to show that the Russian claim is true, we can put nothing past them. The days since the war began have shown how merciless Russia’s attack on Ukraine can be.
Konashenkov said a number of Western governments have encouraged their citizens to fight against Russian troops as mercenaries.
He added that “all further responsibility for the death of this category of foreign citizens in Ukraine rests solely with the leadership of these countries.”
Targeted Strikes to Continue
Referring to Sunday’s cruise missile attack on the military bases in Yavorov and nearby Starichi in western Ukraine, Konashenkov said “targeted strikes will continue”.
According to Moscow, the missile salvo destroyed the facilities used by the “International Legion of Ukraine” and killed “up to 180 foreign fighters.”

Kyiv officials said that 35 people were killed and 130 injured in the attack on the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security, the official name of the military base near Yavorov.
It had been used for years by NATO personnel to train Ukrainian troops.
Discrepancy in Number of Deaths
While Ukrainian authorities insist that no foreign fighters were killed in the strike, several British outlets have reported that three former UK special forces operatives died at Yavorov, and “many more killed within the site than has been claimed.”
This has not been officially confirmed by London. Meanwhile, Washington insisted no “US troops, contractors or civilian government workers” were present at Yavorov.
It’s a “Russia said, Ukraine said” situation, so the countries involved can only wait for more unbiased news before confirming whether there have truly been any foreign casualties.
After all, this could simply be a ploy by Russian forces to deter more people from joining Ukraine’s volunteer army.
